When Your Guests Are Supposed To Arrive, But They Haven’t
Delayed Guests
Even with planning and scheduling beforehand, you don’t really have any control over when a guest is going to arrive. If their plane is scheduled to land in the middle of the day, and they get delayed a couple hours, an in-person key exchange can majorly cut into your day.
Here are some ways you can minimize your wait-time in the event of a late (or early) guest:
Keep an eye on your guest’s flight status
Ask your guest for their flight number and airline so you can look out for delays or cancellations. In the case of a guest that’s driving to your property, monitor their route on google maps to see if they are going to hit heavy traffic.
Communicate with your guest
Have them text you at key points during their trip. When they land, when they’ve left the airport. Or, if they’re driving, when they’re an estimated hour or two away.
Have a back-up plan
-If you think you might have to step out of the house for any reason around the time a guest is planning to arrive, make sure you’ve coordinated a back-up plan with a friend or neighbor to deliver a key in case you don’t make it. Avoid leaving a guest stranded in front of your property at all costs (for more on this, see our Building Key Strategies & Back-Up Plans section).
